Sunshine Early Childhood Center is proud of its special programs that serve children birth to-5 years of age. Sunshine staff is committed to providing all individuals with a challenging, research based curriculum in a supportive environment that encourages students to achieve their full developmental potential.

Individualized Developmental Curriculum
Each child’s individual special learning needs are detailed in an Individualized Education Program (IEP). Our exceptional Sunshine Staff works with parents to provide an effective learning environment utilizing the educational specialists on campus as appropriate.

Parent Involvement
Parent involvement is extremely important to the success of our educational programs. Sunshine is committed to fostering collaborative relationships between parents, children, teachers, and other professionals. Opportunities are available for parents to participate in a fundraising events and school wide activities and to be involved in their child’s classroom. Sunshine has a Parent Advisory Committee as well as a “Parents Actively Learning” (PAL) group that provides evening workshops focused on relevant topics throughout the school year.

Early Childhood Assessment Team (ECAT)
ECAT is a multi-disciplinary team that assesses preschoolers referred to determine possible eligibility for special education services. The ECAT team can be reached by calling (951) 352-8488 ext. 66022

Early Start
The program serves infants with low-incidence disabilities such as blindness, deafness and orthopedic impairments from birth through two years of age. The Early Start team can be reached by calling (951)352-8488 ext. 66015

Special Day Classes
Students who qualify, participate in a five day a week preschool program that emphasizes achievement of the objectives outlined in their Individual Education Program (IEP)The educational interventions utilized are highly specialized and designed to meet the physical, cognitive, behavioral, and communicative needs of each child with a developmentally appropriate, research- based program.

Preschool Intervention Program (PIP)
This program provides intensive speech and language therapy to students who do not qualify for special day class placement but who nonetheless have significant delays in communication development.

State Preschool
We have a State Preschool on our campus and students are integrated for a variety of appropriate activities.

California Children’s Services (CCS) Medical Therapy UnitThis program provides physical and occupational therapy for individual children who qualify for these services.
